The
expo will offer many scheduled and all-day activities, including free
massage in the Wellness area, a climbing tower near the Main Stage, 7-person
Conference bike tours, as well as crowd pleasing interactive entertainment, including
14' tall Mother Earth!
Bird-Watching Nature Walk -
Saturday 11:00 AM, Hike & Bike
Join Don Burlett for a walk along the Paint Creek trail to identify plants,
birds and other natural flora/fauna.
Please bring your binocs if have some to enhance the walk. Don is president of the Oakland Audubon
Society and a world traveler for birding with over 3000 species on his list.
He has led a number of field trips for birding.
Climb
the Walls! - All hours, Climb Tower
Area
The Rock Climbing Tower stands 25 feet
upright and simulates rock climbing and is great for fitness -- improves
strength, flexibility and cardiovascular circulation. A safety harness and
helmet are provided and must be used. Shoes and socks must be worn. Maximum
weight 250 lbs., minimum height 4 ft.
Conference Bike (CoBi)
- All Hours, Hike & Bike Area
Featured at this years Expo is the world famous Conference Bike (CoBi). The
bike rides seven people all contributing power to a circular drivetrain
powering the rear wheels. The bike was conceived by the American artist
Eric Staller (University of Michigan '71'). Currently approximately 200 of
the bikes have been produced. Circumference of Ann Arbor, an art gallery
and fine bicycle shop will be offering rides on the CoBi around the
perimeter of the Expo (about a one mile ride) for $5 a seat. Don't miss
this treat and demonstration of muscle powered transportation.
Circumference will also be exhibiting their Bullitt cargo bikes, imported
from Copenhagen. Go to their website www.piedee.com for

Free Massage
- All hours, Massage Tent (Wellness Area)
Each
year, free massage services are among the favorite ways to spend time at the
Expo. Once again, Irene's Myomassology Institute will be providing
complimentary mini massages to Expo guests. Stop by for massage and
information on our massage therapy program. Irene Myomassology Institute
educates the public on natural healing methods, Nationally Accredited, Life
Transforming, Massage Program, and Weekend Seminars.
Historic Downtown Walking Tour
- Saturday 2:00 PM, North Welcome Tent
Members of the Rochester-Avon Historical Society will lead a Walking Tour of
downtown Rochester, talk about the various historic buildings, and share
stories and other facts about downtown Rochester. Pictures of many of the
buildings around 1900 will also be shown. Participants will gather at the
Welcome Tent at the north end of Farmer's Row on Water Street for 2:00 PM
departure. The Walking Tour will last approximately 45 minutes.
Solar Car Wash -
All Hours,
Water & 2nd Streets (south) Entrance
A
three-panel solar hot water system (the size required to heat a small
residential outdoor pool) fed by a standard cold water hose will pump solar
heated water into buckets of soapy earth friendly detergent demonstrating
how simple and efficient solar water heating systems are and raise funds
for local green school groups. Come and see for yourself how easy it is to
heat your water in systems specifically designed for use in Michigan and
support students efforts to go green.

For Discovery

The a one hour hike
which will begin and end at the
Trailhead meeting area at the east of of 3rd Street and take advantage of
the Expo's proximity to two major trails - Paint Creek and the Clinton River
trails. It will include information on a variety of topics: trail
stewardship and preservation, trail etiquette, basic trail safety & first aid, state parks & rec areas in Southeast
Michigan, the Hike For Discovery program, nutrition & hydration for hiking,
and basic gear & apparel for hiking. The hike will be appropriate for all
levels of fitness and tennis shoes will be adequate as footwear. It is
geared to adults, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We will
hike be hiking at a very moderate pace to include everyone.
